lace & doilies

a great and easy thing to make with my ever-growing stash of lace, ribbons and doilies. these bracelets in various widths are all sewn on heavy linen ground, with a button and ribbon-loop closure. dylan is modelling....

  4. Hello and thank you!
    Very easy: cut out rectangles of heavy linen/canvas: the longest side should be about 0.75" wider than the circumference of your wrist. Go around the edges with a zig zag stitch to prevent fraying. Then the fun part: pin on strips of lace, pieces of doilies, arrange until you are happy with the look. Don't be afraid to layer several things over one another. Once everything is pinned on, secure everything with tiny little stitches.... somewhat time-consuming :(
    Finally, I sewed "button loops" on one end, using a thinner ribbon, and mother of pearl buttons on the other end. Done!

  7. WOW - you are one super-creative gal. Thank you for sharing. I will try and I think for stitching I will use either sewing thread to match the lace or fishing line in clear -- a very thin line or even invisible thread.
